Career Senior Executive Service appointees, those eligible for reinstatement into the Senior Executive Service, or those who have successfully completed a CDP are expected to address the Technical Qualifications.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, directing, and managing high-level corporate/federal agency programs.
- Experience directing and creating effective organizational operations and ability to defend major program objectives before Congress, national and international organizations; scientific and professional organizations; Federal, State, Tribal, and local governments; interagency groups; private industry; special interest groups; and public meetings which often involve dealing with highly controversial and sensitive issues.
- Knowledge of national public lands/natural and cultural resources program development, policy formulation, program and budget accomplishment, as well as how top level government procedures and decision making are handled.
- Knowledge of and ability to work collaboratively to coordinate federal program and policy formulation and development as well as operational activities directly related to the management of high-level corporate/federal agency functions and activities.
- Experience and successful implementation of national public lands/natural and cultural resources operations and activities aimed at the continual delivery of a multi-use land management program.

ECQ 2 - LEADING PEOPLE - This core qualification involves the ability to lead people toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals. Inherent to this ECQ is the ability to provide an inclusive workplace that fosters the development of others, facilitates cooperation and teamwork, and supports constructive resolution of conflicts.

Oversees procurement and contracting to achieve desired results. Ensures that employees are appropriately recruited, selected, appraised, and rewarded; takes action to address performance problems. Ensures access to and security of technology systems.
ECQ 5 - BUILDING COALITIONS - This core qualification involves the ability to build coalitions internally and with other Federal agencies, State and local governments, nonprofit and private sector organizations, foreign governments, or international organizations to achieve common goals.
Leadership Competencies: Partnering-Develops networks and builds alliances; collaborates across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals; Political Savvy-Identifies the internal and external politics that impact the work of the organization. Perceives organizational and political reality and acts accordingly; Influencing/Negotiating - Persuades others; builds consensus through give and take; gains cooperation from others to obtain information and accomplish goals.
Travel and relocation expenses will be paid consistent with the Federal Travel Regulations and Departmental policy.

Senior Executive Service Probationary Period: If you are selected for this position, you will be required to serve a one year SES probationary period, if one has not previously been completed. Before entering on duty, you will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450. You will need to provide the information annually.
Frequent travel may be required.
Government facilities are required to provide a smoke free environment for their employees. Smoking will be permitted only in designated areas.
