Position Description:
Programs and maintains interfacing of applications as indicated in order to enable data communications and synergy across disparate systems and enhance end-user workflows and experiences. Ensures programs and interfaces are continuously reliable, available, and consistently perform with integrity.

Promotes the continual advancement, introduction, and effective use of “informatics” computer technologies at UMC. Stays abreast of current trends and products in the Healthcare Information Technology and Informatics industry. Shares knowledge/expertise and proactively engages other hospital leaders and staff to identify needs and opportunities. As the intermediary between clinical/business practice and technology, works to employ solutions that help achieve best practices and enhanced healthcare operations that are in alignment with UMC's mission & strategy. The analyst is responsible for researching, planning, coordinating and recommending software and system choices to meet business requirements. The analyst plays a vital role in the systems development process.

Provides formal “project management” for computer-based implementations, some of significant size, establishing detail plans and timelines, coordinating resources, and directing all related activities, enterprise-wide; establishes teamwork through appropriate deployment of process, technical, and human resources in collaboration with departmental and IT staff.

Understands regulatory requirements associated with electronic health records and works to ensure compliance, enterprise-wide. Helps to establish, monitor, and enforce policies and procedures for clinical data capture, data access, and data sharing with all authorized parties that have a need to know, including external stakeholders, providers, regulatory agencies, etc.

Provides on-going support to help ensure continued optimal use and maximum return on past investments with respect to all clinical information systems. Continually works to optimize the clinical design and workflow to meet the needs of interdisciplinary end-users, including physicians, nurses, respiratory care practitioners, ancillary, clinical, business and administrative staff.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Programming/Science, Nursing or Physician Informatics, Nursing (BSN/RN), Healthcare Administration, Information Technology or related discipline; clinical certification(s) and clinical work experience may be considered in lieu of a 4-year degree.
  • 5+ years of interface development or clinical applications support; experience with Summit interface tools a plus
  • 3+ years of support working with a Hospital Information System; Meditech MAGIC experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with all levels of management and staff, enterprise-wide; ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Experienced educator/trainer with the ability to conduct formal presentations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong report-writing skills.
  • Strong project management skills and experience.
  • Application development, dictionary building, testing, and project implementation.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with little supervision.
