The Electronic Media and Film (EMF) department at Towson University is accepting applications for a MultiMedia Technician. Under the supervision of the EMF Media Labs Supervisor, this position provides moderately complex technical and logistical support for the multimedia and production equipment, media reservation and distribution services, production and post-production facilities, and studios (audio and TV). Leads and trains subordinate personnel, assists students, works with The Office of Technology Services to maintain computer inventory, and helps maintain content of departmental social media accounts.
Prepares, installs and helps maintain multimedia equipment, reservation system, EMF student ID cards, computers, software, smart classrooms, studios and labs for operation, reservations, distribution for faculty, staff and student use. Instructs others on the usage of equipment and systems; develops training materials and schedules. Helps supervise student employees and assist students. Maintains computer inventory, works with supervisor to develop computer packages, policies and software installation details. Ensures the operational readiness of equipment, facilities and systems; troubleshoots and repairs minor problems; performs preventative maintenance and refers major problems to supervisor. Ensures adequate supplies, materials and equipment are maintained. Keeps inventory records, ensure security of equipment. Helps maintain content of social media sites.
Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Technology or related field and one year of experience in the operation and maintenance of audio-visual or multimedia equipment. Thorough knowledge of the operation and maintenance of multimedia equipment; digital cinema cameras, DSLR cameras, professional camcorders, multi-track digital audio recorders, microphones, film and video lights and accessories. Skill in the operation and repair of video and audio equipment and related software. Ability to lead and train subordinate personnel and interact with students, staff and faculty; to communicate effectively; to lift and carry equipment; and to properly set up and maintain audio recording facilities, TV studio facilities and post production facilities. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary and Benefits
