•\tAssociates or Bachelors of Science degree preferred. Applicable to business, materials management, supply chain logistics, project management, or data analytics.
•\tPharmacy Technician License in Maryland required.
•\tMinimum 5 years' experience as a Pharmacy Technician with a hospital background required
•\tTwo years' hospital pharmacy purchasing / inventory control experience preferred
•\tStrong experience preferred in 340B pharmacy purchasing
•\tEstablishes and maintains relationships with vendors, wholesalers, and pharmaceutical representatives
•\tGood time management, organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and establish priorities.
•\tEffective written and verbal communication skills are required.
•\tStrong Microsoft Excel skills required for creating and presenting a variety of reports.


•\tPurchases pharmaceuticals and supplies from wholesalers and directly from manufacturers on a daily basis.
•\tReceives all medications and shipments
•\tOrganization and cleanliness of drug storage areas
•\tPrepares invoices for payment by Accounts Payable Department
•\tPurchase within guidelines of the 340B program
•\tManages medication returns to vendors.
•\tMonitor medication returns to evaluate credit received
•\tFacilitate the processing of outdated medications
•\tPrepares pharmacy department for annual inventory updating shelf labels, inventory supply forms, and databases as needed
•\tMaintains and updates information regarding backordered and discontinued products.
•\tReviews drug recall alerts issued by FDA and responds accordingly
•\tEstablishes and maintains appropriate inventory levels of drugs/supplies. Makes decisions in purchasing while complying with budget limitations
•\tParticipates in activities aimed at increasing compliance with 340B purchases when discrepancies are identified.
•\tMaintains records of pharmaceuticals loaned to and borrowed from other hospitals and pharmacies
•\tDevelops and participates in quality improvement activities of the hospital pertaining to cost management of pharmacy purchasing

Skills and Abilities:

•\tAbility to diplomatically and effectively manage interactions with individuals at all levels and job functions, both inside and outside the organization
•\tAbility to work independently with minimum direct supervision
•\tCapable of working in a matrix environment
•\tProficiency in database management and various purchasing vendor applications
•\tHighly flexible, positive and results orientated
•\tEffective written and verbal communication skills required
•\tStrong Microsoft Excel skills required
•\tGood time management and problem solving skills with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and establish priorities.
•\tAble to produce and present a variety of reports
