Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Specialized experience includes:
- Applying advanced IT principles, concepts, and methods, standards, and practices;
- Researching and providing recommendations on all aspects of IT lifecycle system development, integration, maintenance, and customer support;
- Organizing assigned tasks, plans and directing IT research studies, engineering and alternatives analyses, and work products as required to support cost, schedule, and performance criteria.
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

It is desirable to have Industry certifications or endorsements, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Security Manager (CISM) Certifications. This position has been designated a Cybersecurity Workforce Management, Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level II position. The employee is required IAM Level II position requirements as defined in DoD guidance within one year (12 months) of assignment.

- Knowledge of advanced IT principles, concepts, and acquisition methods, standards, and practices.
- Knowledge and experience with the NIST Risk Management Framework, the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), general IT methodologies and management applications such the DISA Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
- Knowledge and experience performing network threat and vulnerability analyses to determine operational and security impact, and ultimately the risk posed to the operational cybersecurity environment.
- Skill and experience in developing and interpreting policies, procedures and strategies governing the planning and delivery of IT capabilities.
- Skill and experience in providing expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT issues.
- Ability to apply new developments to previously unsolvable problems and making decisions or recommendations as required to other further project goals and implementation.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
