Assistant Director, MBA Programs - McDonough School of Business

Located at the intersection of business, government, and international relations, Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business develops principled leaders committed to serving both business and society. Through our global perspective, we prepare students to compete in today's international business environment.

The Assistant Director has responsibility for assisting to recruit, admit, yield, and retain progressively higher quality prospective students to the MBA program. S/he manages and executes the email communication strategy, develops the annual information session presentation and accompanying talking points, represents the school at recruitment events, reviews applications for admission, interviews applicants, meets with prospective students and visitors to campus, serves as an Admissions Advisor, and responds to requests for information.  Reporting to the Associate Dean of MBA Admissions, the Assistant Director has duties that include but are not limited to:

Communications and Marketing

  • Sets strategy and executes email communications plan under the direction of the Associate Director of Marketing Automation.
  • Develops metrics and tracks analytics of this strategy.
  • Develops and executes targeted email campaigns and design of graphics used in communications to prospective and admitted students for recruitment, yield, and retention; and executes these campaigns through Marketo, a sophisticated marketing automation tool.
  • Designs and creates the annual MBA Information Session and Experience Georgetown presentations and accompanying talking points; and designs and creates additional marketing collateral as needed, such as brochures and white papers.
  • Manages overall website strategy for the MBA Admissions pages and works with Assistant Director of Marketing and Operations to implement changes.
  • Assists with other marketing/communications projects under the direction of the Associate Dean.

Application Review and Evaluation

  • Evaluates MBA applications and makes admissions decision recommendations to the MBA Admissions Committee; and serves as a member of the Admissions Committee and attends weekly AdComm selection meetings.
  • Analyzes and synthesizes a large amount of often conflicting data, such as undergraduate transcripts, test scores, professional work history, letters of recommendation, extracurricular involvement, essays, and interview report, in an effort to select the best applicants for admission to the MBA programs.
  • Conducts personal interviews with applicants to evaluate their suitability for the Georgetown MBA program.
  • Responds to routine and non-routine inquiries from applicants and admitted students concerning the application process, notification, financial aid information, visa requirements, and program requirements.

Recruitment

  • Represents the MBA Program at national and international student recruitment events - for example, Asia, Latin America.
  • Travels and attends McDonough recruitment events and interviews candidates in selected cities throughout the world to increase Georgetown MBA Program visibility and attract higher quality applicants.
  • Meets with visiting prospective students to share information on the graduate management education opportunities at Georgetown.
  • Responds to routine and non-routine inquiries from applicants and admitted students concerning the application process, notification, financial aid information, visa requirements, and program requirements.
  • Conducts personal phone calls and outreach to prospective students interested in pursuing the Georgetown MBA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree - preference for Master's degree in business, higher education, or counseling
  • 3 to 5 years of experience within a corporate or university setting - preference for marketing, communications, sales, business development or recruitment/admissions experience preferred 
  • Passion for content creation
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, collaborative nature, sound judgement, critical assessment skills, detail orientation, and ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong editorial and writing skills
  • Knowledge of and experience with Prezi, Canva and Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Previous experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and/or Marketing Automation systems - preference for experience with Salesforce, TargetX, and Marketo products
