SENIOR GOVERNMENT RELATIONS SPECIALIST

Well-established law firm seeks a Senior Government Relations Specialist to support their Government Relations practice group and monitor legislative developments in areas of interest to clients within Committees, on the House floor, and in the Senate. Interest areas include but are not limited to: energy, health care, tax, trade, and transportation issues.
>Conducting legislative research; preparing legislative histories and related documents and reports
>Tracking legislation and other developments in specific issue areas and preparing written analyses for practice group members and clients
>Attending hearings and providing live blogging on issues in discussion
>Liaising with Congressional staff to produce favorable outcomes for clients
>Supporting and facilitating client meetings on The Hill with members of Congress
>Preparing lobbying disclosure reports
>Bachelor's degree in Political Science or related field and strong academic credentials required
>At least two (3) years of experience working as a Legislative Assistant within the U.S. Senate experience
>Thorough knowledge of the legislative process and of Congressional organization and procedures
>Experience working with Congressional staff
>Strong written and verbal communication skills
>Ability to write client-ready copy with minimal input
>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
*Flexibility to work overtime
