Responsibilities: Principal Duties: Mentorship, Training and Retention Initiatives for Nursing Leadership: Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate quarterly Nurse Manager Orientation and onboarding programs. Ongoing consultation with Nurse Managers and other nurse leaders throughout the UM CRH facilities regarding challenges, opportunities, and problem solving. Develop a comprehensive continuing education program for the development and growth of nurse managers and other nurse leaders. Ongoing monitoring and recommendation to nursing leadership regarding: Staff RN turnover and Vacancy Rate Nurse Manager/Director, nurse leader turnover and Vacancy Rate In collaboration with Human Resources, supports Leadership training and development activities. Contributes to: Reduction of Nurse Manager/Director, nurse leader turnover/vacancy rate by : Ongoing needs assessment via consultation with senior leadership and Nursing Directors/Managers and development of programs to support the target population. Consultation with individual Nursing Directors/Managers, nurse leaders and development of targeted interventions. Review and assessment of exit interview data in collaboration with Human Resources personnel in an effort to proactively intervene when issues are identified. Identify issues related to retention and develop strategies to improve retention. Analysis of manager/director opportunities and global issues with leadership Development of education competency plan and succession planning for all nursing leadership based upon identified needs Planning and execution of nursing retreats to facilitate ongoing development and mentoring of nurse leaders. Reduction of Staff Nurse Turnover/Vacancy Rate Implementsevidence-based strategies that address leader preparation and organizational leadership structure including advanced education, leadership training, and shared leadership models. Review and assessment of exit interview data in collaboration with Human Resources personnel in an effort to proactively intervene when issues are identified. Supports implementation of the goals of nursing initiatives. Supports planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing strategic planning retreats. Works in collaboration with the nursing leadership and education to support innovative strategies for nursing engagement and professional development. Contributes to: Writing and updates of NSP I grant and reports. Attends NSP I HSCRC grant related meetings and events. Discusses results of retention and turnover with Leadership and develops initiatives to maintain and coach current Nursing Leadership. Develops and maintains relationships with HSCRC personnel. Supports organization wide initiatives related to Strategic Planning:ii Promotes innovative practices in educational environments, supports and facilitates nursing theoretical model and intra-professional education (IPE) development (simulation). iv. Maintains competency in clinical and/or professional areas of expertise. vi. Performs other activities as necessary upon request by Director. Functions as change agent and leader to create a preferred future for education and nursing practice Develops leadership skills to shape and implement change as evidenced by participation in committees and councils within the corporation and other roles within the community. Supports initiatives to align with the nursing strategic plan. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Nursing required Masters degree in Nursing or Masters in Organization Development or Leadership Development or related field preferred. Current license in good standing as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or another compact state. 5+ years of nursing management or leadership development experience. Working knowledge and experience sufficient to be able to teach from experience: Organization, Productivity, Financial Reports, Budget Preparation & Monitoring. Coaching/Mentoring skills. Ability to develop curriculum and training materials and to implement training program. *CB
