Vice President of Legislative & Political Affairs The Financial Services Institute (FSI), the leading trade association for independent financial services firms and independent financial advisors, is hiring a Vice President of Legislative & Political Affairs for its Washington, DC office. FSI was founded in 2004 with a clear mission: to ensure that all individuals have access to competent and affordable financial advice, products and services delivered by a growing network of independent financial advisors and independent financial services firms. A strong candidate for the position will have the demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team and direct the use of lobbying, grassroots, media, communications and other resources to achieve federal legislative victories on financial services issues. In addition, the candidate will be dedicated to working effectively within a team of professionals to achieve the organization's strategic goals. JOB DESCRIPTION Pursue advocacy victories for the benefit of the organization's members. Supervise and manage efforts to establish constructive working relationships with Members of Congress and their staff. Supervise and manage a grassroots engagement team working to identify, cultivate, deploy and maintain the organization's grassroots. . Collaborate on these efforts with the membership and communications teams. Serve as a member of the organization's senior leadership team. Lead by example in demonstrating a commitment to the organization's core values of results, integrity, collaboration and balance. JOB REQUIREMENTS 10 years or more experience managing lobbyist and grassroots advocacy efforts. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team of lobbyists, lawyers, communicators and others to achieve advocacy and membership goals. A proven track record of embracing technology to enhance effectiveness and efficiency. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven time management and organizational skills. Preference will be given to those with Capitol Hill, financial services industry and trade association experience. SALARY .
