Senior Accountant Tax Position Summary: Provide immediate and long-term tax solutions for both businesses and individuals by working on progressively more complex client engagements with a minimum of assistance. Assists in training of staff accountants; supervises staff accountants and reviews their work. The Senior Accountant has increasing involvement and communication with client personnel. Independently solves routine technical problems. Position Duties and Responsibilities: Performs diversified accounting and tax assignments under the direction of a supervisor, manager or partner, at all times working to meet time constraints and client deadlines. Provides a variety of services based on client needs: Corporate, partnership, an individual tax planningFamily business tax planningPreparation of reviews and returnsState and local tax consultingMerger and acquisition planningRepresentation before the IRS or other authoritiesRetirement planningEstate and gift tax planningPersonal financial planning Directs and instructs staff accountants where applicable, in work to be performed. Prepares routine correspondence to client for approval and signature by a partner. Acts as a liaison between client and XXXX team members to provide job status, issues, and potential problems in order to come to suggested solutions and complete the engagement in accordance with the client s expectations and XXXX commitment. Participates in Firm s business development efforts, including: Providing outstanding and timely service to clientsIdentifying and making partners aware of potential expanded services we can provide to clients;Beginning to develop a referral network among professional peers (bankers, lawyers, insurance and investment brokers, etc.)Getting involved with professional and civic activitiesAccompanying partners and managers on business development callsParticipating in business development training Begins acquiring the skills necessary to develop quality client relationships and loyalty. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics: Plans, organizes, and controls assignments. Considers all factors of a problem and suggests possible solutions. Has the ability to prioritize responsibilities. Shows high degree of professionalism towards team members and clients. Reliable accepts responsibility, meets commitments without excessive follow-up; consistently accurate in presenting information. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing. Competency in technical skills, work quality and application of professional and Firm standards and ethics. Proficiency with computers, spreadsheet software programs, calculator and other general office equipment. Increased development of a command of pertinent IRC sections and regulations; proficiency at tax research, including a knowledge of the reference sources available to the Firm Qualifications: Bachelors degree in accounting, or with sufficient course work to sit for the CPA exam; proficiency in the use of computers and computer accounting, financial and tax software programs. Minimum of 2-3 years of comparable work experience. Either hold a current and valid CPA license, or be in the process of obtaining the license by taking and passing the applicable state CPA exam; consulting staff are not expected to obtain a CPA license.
