Many of our professionals formerly worked for the IRS and Treasury as executives, counsel, appeals officers, revenue agents, and service center managers. As global tax authorities streamline their processes and demand more information from taxpayers in shorter timeframes, managing tax examinations grows more challenging each day. We are efficient, accurate, and consistent in the way we manage our client\u2019s global tax controversy processes. Traditional approaches used by tax department professionals such as spreadsheets, network drives, binders, and file cabinets aren\u2019t keeping pace. Deloitte has developed an innovative tool, our Tax Controversy Manager (TCM), a Deloitte web-based and scalable TCM that harmonizes the tax audit process across jurisdictions for virtually any type of tax controversy. TCM enables client\u2019s to properly prepare and manage tax controversy processes and related documentation across multiple tax audits, and with domestic and global transparency.\n \xa0 \n What you\u2019ll do \nAs a Senior Manager on Deloitte\'s Tax Controversy team, you will:\n \n Use your expertise to provide many tax controversy services to our clients. \n Manage teams on client engagements that can help address the risks and costs of dealing with the IRS and explore more favorable and efficient issue resolution. \n Help clients work with complex and dynamic issues surrounding tax controversy on a global level. \n \nOversee complex tax projects for clients in diverse industries. \n \nResearch and analyze a wide range of tax issues related to business transactions and tax implications of financing techniques. \n Work with local and foreign market clients. \n Conduct pre-examination audit readiness analysis. \n Examine planning and representation. \n Participate in appeals representation and litigation support. \n Provide support for IRS service center matters. \n Manage computations of IRS penalties and interest. \n \nHelp companies understand national, state and local, and international tax structures and align the tax function with business objectives. \n \nSupervise assignments by the professional accountants serving as Consultants, and Senior Consultants. \n \xa0 \n Qualifications \n Required: \n \n 7+ years\u2019 of core federal tax experience, preferably with a focus on corporate tax \n 7+ years\u2019 experience in public accounting or equivalent in a law firm or industry \n Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field \n \nAdvanced degree (Masters or PhD) \n CPA, enrolled agent, bar admission, or other appropriate certification \n Strong interpersonal skills with a management/executive presence \n Excellent research, as well as written and verbal communication, skills \n Strong analytical abilities and computer skills with knowledge of MS Excel \n \nExperience developing and motivating the engagement staff by providing them with leadership, counselling, and career guidance \n \nExperience maintaining and developing strong client relationships on various business tax consulting and compliance engagements \n \nSolid management experience \n \nAble to travel up to 20%\n\xa0 \n Preferred \n \n Prior Big 4, law firm, or multinational company experience \n An advanced degree such as MST, MAcc, JD, or LLM \n\xa0\n \xa0 \n How you\u2019ll grow \nAt Deloitte, our professional development plan focuses on helping people at every level of their career to identify and use their strengths to do their best work every day.
