General Summary of Position: The individual in this position provides administrative and secretarial support to the Department of Surgery/Division of Thoracic Surgery providers. Answers phones, registers patients, schedules appointments, posts surgical procedures, and coordinates insurance verifications and pre-authorizations. Manages provider calendars, coordinates travel, and assists with academic activities within the Division of Thoracic Surgery. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Qualifications: AA degree required, BS/BA preferred. Three years of progressively responsible office experience. Excellent oral communication, writing, organizational skills and abilities. Extensive knowledge of computer software and hardware including packages for word processing, database, desktop publishing, statistical programs, and communications.
