SUMMARY The Debt & Derivatives Accounting Manager will oversee the end-to-end accounting and reporting for E*TRADEs wholesale funding and hedging activities. Role involves management of team deliverables related to administration of the monthly financial accounting and reporting process, which includes hedge documentation and compliance, daily sub-ledger processing, journal entries and reconciliations, month-end closing, and monthly/quarterly reporting. Role also involves active engagement with E*TRADEs Treasury Management and Accounting Policy teams RESPONSIBILITIES Manage the accounting for the Companys interest rate risk hedging activities, including both fair value and cash flow hedges, and related derivative instruments Ensure ASC 815 hedge accounting compliance; including hedge documentation, effectiveness assessment and measurement, similarity test,etc Manage the accounting for the Companys wholesalefunding activities, to include corporate debt, repurchase agreements, preferred stock, and trust preferred issuances Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations and analyses; ensure open items or issues are resolved timely Manage daily sub-ledger processing and month end closing Serve as the accounting subject matter expert for system initiatives (upgrades or patches) related to the sub-ledger, including impact analysis, planning, testing, result evaluation, and implementation Support monthly / quarterly financial reporting and tax reporting Manage internal and external audit or exam requests and address inquiries Maintain strong control environment with sufficient process and procedure documentation Provide ongoing team management and development, including workload distribution and assignment, deliverable management, staff development and performance management Coordinate with Accounting Policy and Financial Reporting teams to implement new guidance or disclosure requirements Collaborate within and outside of the department to achieve common goals (eg Controller Group, Treasury, Technology, etc.) Basic BS in Accounting or Finance required Minimum of 5 years accounting experience Preferred CPA / CFA preferred Solid understanding of accounting policies, especially ASC 815 In-depth knowledge of financial instruments including repurchase agreements, dollar rolls, swaps, caps/floors, swaptions, etc. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment Strong communication; ability to articulate complex technical matters and translate into tangible action items Demonstrated proficiency in team and project management Attention to detail We offer a competitive and comprehensive benefits package.
