Revenue Recognition Project Manager
What you ll be doing The Finance Systems Group (FSG) has an opening for an IT Project Manager. This role is primarily responsible for project management activities for the new, mandatory accounting Revenue Recognition standard. This position will lead and oversee continued modifications over time to support Verizon s ever changing product and system landscape. This includes initial system implementation of functional and technical requirements as well as regular enhancements needed to address changes resulting from ongoing changes in the wireless and wireline businesses. As part of the Finance Systems Group (FSG), this role may be responsible for leading cross functional teams to plan, build and deliver broad-impact system solutions beyond the Revenue Recognition program. This may include project initiatives related to Digital Finance implementation and adoption which will become a strategic catalyst in introducing emerging and disruptive technologies, applications, and tools into the Finance organization. Some of these projects in the Digital Finance portfolio include robotic process automation, cognitive technologies, cloud migration, and leading analytic and visualization suites. Act as functional project manager within the program management team Drive planning, execution, delivery, status updates within the end-to-end IT development cycle for enterprise-wide projects such as system integrations impacting multiple legal reporting entities Focus comprehensively on plan, build, deliver, run, status and budget tracking responsibility of projects within end-to-end IT development cycle Utilize a standardized, end-to-end project management approach (including governance methodologies and toolsets) across multi-disciplinary Finance projects to ensure consistency and quality Support several large-scale, complex projects (duration >1 year, budget >$ 1M) in line with various customer s long-term strategies and objectives and with significant impact on Verizon Finance and IT landscape (line of sight >2 years.) Focus on the system and application design activity support within the project Translation of business requirements into technical requirements and functional end-to-end design and test plans Project Management interface between the business, IT, and the other parts of FSG Flexible and collaborative work approach to solve complex problems and to develop customer-specific solutions - taking into account multiple internal and external stakeholder groups and different level of stakeholder groups with various and changing demands and requirements and intersections (e. g. IT, Finance, FP&A, top-management level etc) What we re looking for You ll need to have: Bachelor s degree or four or more years of work experience. Four or more years of relevant work experience. Even Better if you have: BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, FP&A, IT, or Project Management. Master s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, FP&A, IT, or Project Management. Formal training and/or certifications in project management methodologies (e. g., Six Sigma Methodologies, PMP Certifications, Agile.) 5+ years of directly related experience in Project Management, Accounting, FP&A, or IT. Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects at various stages of the project life cycle. Experience managing large, finance-impacting systems program implementations. Experience managing across varied Finance, Business, and IT stakeholder groups and maintaining key relationships. Demonstrated highly developed team leadership skills and the ability to manage internal / external resources to achieve project objectives. Ability to perform in a high volume, fast paced changing environment with good time-management skills and the ability to manage teams. Excellent interpersonal, influencing, communication and organizational skills and the ability to deliver across levels. Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to operate independently and remain focused through change or uncertainty. Demonstrated commitment to enhance functional and technologies capabilities, particularly around cutting edge and nascent technologies.
