General Summary of Position: Provides direct daily supervision of pharmacy operations to achieve optimal integration of distributive and patient care activities. Qualifications: EDUCATION: Licensed as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland. EXPERIENCE: 3 years hospital pharmacy experience; 2 years management-level responsibility in Pharmacy. LICENSE/CERT/REG: Pharmacist license in the State of Maryland. SKILLS: Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Participates in the Department Continuous Quality Improvement Program. Participates in the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of department personnel. Participates in the ongoing review, maintenance, and revision of the Departmental Policy and Procedure Manual. Performs duties of the Patient Care Pharmacist to achieve efficient integration of distributive and patient care activities to ensure prompt and accurate dispensing of all inpatient medications. Provides daily supervision of pharmaceutical operations. Provides management-level intervention for daily issues and problems requiring interaction between the Pharmacy Department and other hospital personnel. Provides primary supervision and/or coordination of departmental automation including Pyxis and HCS clinical software. Performs other duties as assigned.
