Manager of Resident Care/Delegating Nurse Charles E. Smith Life Community , a premier provider of independent living, assisted living, memory care, post acute rehabilitation and long-term care, is searching for an energetic self-starter to work as a Manager of Resident Care/Delegating Nurse in our Landow and Cohen-Rosen House assisted living . Located on a 34-acre campus in suburban Rockville, MD, our system provides a continuum of care encompassing long-term care at the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, assisted living at Landow House, memory care assisted living at Cohen-Rosen house, independent living at Ring and Revitz House, and the Hirsh Health Center, an outpatient health clinic. With a rich history of over one hundred years of service to the community, we deliver quality services to over one thousand residents each day. Responsibilities include: Organize, develop and direct the nursing operations and coordinate delivery of other direct care services of the Landow House/Cohen-Rosen House in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times. In addition, this position serves as the Delegating Nurse for Assisted Living (AL), and is responsible for performing and documenting assessments every 45 days on all AL residents who have their medications administered to them by AL staff. This role will also include performing and documenting medication passes every 45 days on all unlicensed staff who administer medications. As Manager of Resident Care, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. Assure compliance with regulations governing Assisted Living Facilities in the State of Maryland. Communicate regularly with the Director of Resident Care and Administrator to report deviations from standard operating procedure. Provide continuous oversight of nursing operations and coordination of service delivery with other resident service areas, such as food services, housekeeping, maintenance, activities, etc. to ensure residents' needs are met and operations comply with regulatory requirements. Education Requirements Must possess, as a minimum, a Bachelor‘s degree.. Must be a graduate of an approved RN program. Case Manager/Delegating Nurse certificate with the state of MD Board of Nursing required or to be obtained within 90 days of employment. Experience Three (3) years experience in long-term care or assisted living service program. Must possess, as a minimum, two (2) years experience in a management or supervisory capacity. Specific Requirements Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in Maryland, or compact state per board of nursing guidelines. Must have current CPR certification. Must have current first aid certification or be certified within 30 days of employment. Must provide documentation of such certification upon application for the position. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to assisted living/long-term care. Must be knowledgeable of medical terminology. Must possess effective physical assessment skills. Must possess leadership ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other staff. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult situations. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices. Must possess the ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the organization. Must have the ability to train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinates. Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace. Experience with Point Click Care preferred.
