EOE/Disability/VeteranGDMS has an immediate opening for a Chief Engineer to join our team. The selected candidate will be responsible for defining and maintaining the current and future system architecture needs of critical customer systems. This position provides an opportunity to lead the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to build and further advance GDMS software systems and applications., Within GDMS, Chief Engineers lead the research, design and development of systems hardware, software, software applications and/or tools for designated programs and subprograms. The Chief Engineers work directly with the GDMS program teams and the program's customer program office and technical design agent to ensure system design meets the required program specifications and goals. Chief Engineer responsibilities also include business development support in the form of proposal responses, white papers, and technology roadmap development., * Serves as an authority and consultant in at least one major technical discipline of high complexity and importance to the business, including Mission Planning, Battlespace Awareness, and Situational Awareness. * Works across a broad range of disciplines to structure undefined problems, identifies key technical issues and defines alternative approaches and resolutions. * Develops and applies extremely advanced technologies, principles, theories and concepts, and extending existing boundaries of knowledge. Works in extremely complex areas requiring research, creativity and ingenuity in identifying potential engineering solutions. * Plans critical long range technological requirements to enhance company objectives or meet anticipated customer needs. * Independently identifies and solves significant problems associated with the success of current and critical long range objectives. * Leads and coordinates the activities of key technical personnel and other employees as required. * Fosters new ideas and inventions. Pursues new technology concepts prior to the establishment of any formal IR&D or CR&D establishment. * Recommends, plans, leads, reviews, identifies risks and evaluates R&D and technological applications programs. * Advises senior management on developments, trends or weaknesses in his/her area(s). * Serves as prime spokesperson to customers and other companies on GDMS technical capabilities in area(s) of expertise. * Is instrumental in attracting and obtaining new company business. * Holds membership(s) in professional organizations, often in a leadership role. Represents GDMS at professional technical forums, organizations, conferences and meetings. * Makes significant contributions to government, scientific or technology study panels. * Mentors high potential and other Engineers in area(s) of expertise. * Actively participates in design reviews, proposal evaluations, tiger teams, etc. * Actively participates in new business activities. * Prepares and reviews technical papers and reports. * Technical lead of program teams ranging from 5 to 20 engineers.Requires a BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or Computer Engineering or the equivalent, and a minimum of twelve years of directly related experience. Applicants with a master's degree and a minimum of ten years of directly related experience are also eligible. Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a US Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, US citizenship is required., * Demonstrated Mission Planning, Battlespace Awareness, and Situational Awareness experience for 15-20 years * Balanced technical background to be a decision maker on program technical issues, understand the business aspects, and have the ability to be a strategic / competitive thinker exhibiting an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness. * Problem Solving: Analytical thought needed to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations without supervision * Interpersonal Skills: Developed communication skills to exchange complex information * Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate with internal and external customers to achieve consensus on technical decisions and issue resolution * Demonstrated experience as a technical lead on proposals which contain significant engineering content * Experience in full engineering lifecycle to include: concept development, customer engagement and shaping, solution and proposal creation, design, integration, test, verification, validation, logistics, training, sustainment and obsolescence handling. * Experience designing, specifying requirements, inspecting, verifying, and debugging systems and solutions * Ability to shape market opportunities, influencing external customer and is recognized by both customers and community as a subject matter expert * Ability to drive the development of new innovative technologies through research and development discrimination * Superior oral and written communication skills. * Ability to travel * Ability to work with a geographically separated team, spanning multiple programs and locations
