Associate Director for Mission Integration, School of Continuing Studies - Mission & Ministry

Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies (SCS) offers graduate programs in professional and liberal studies, more than 30 professional certificate programs, custom and corporate training and education, summer school and special programs, and a part-time bachelor's program.

The Associate Director for Mission Integration plays an integral part of our efforts to foster Georgetown University's Jesuit identity through a diverse offering of Ignatian programs.  S/he animates, integrates and deepens faculty, staff and students' engagement with the Jesuit values that drive the mission of Georgetown University, incorporating both SCS's degree programs (~2400+ students/term) and non-degree programs, as well as certificate programs and high school programs. Reporting to the Director of Law Center Ministry, with dotted reporting lines to both the Vice President of Mission and Ministry and to the Dean of the School of Continuing Studies, the Associate Director has duties that include but are not limited to:

Mission Integration

  • Collaborates with SCS colleagues to incorporate Ignatian pedagogy into online and campus courses and programs. 
  • Manages the design and execution of a diverse offering of Ignatian spirituality and formation programming, such as retreats and Ignatian Tradition Seminars, in collaboration with relevant experts and stakeholders, for SCS faculty, students, and staff.

Mission-Related Presence

  • Provides a mission-related presence to the SCS during new student orientations, faculty and staff retreats, and the Animating Jesuit Values committee meetings. 
  • Provides an engaging and welcoming in a variety of community outreach endeavors. 

Collateral and Budgetary Responsibilities

  • Supports other strategic initiatives aligned with the mission of SCS and GU, such as writing and managing mission grants, and supporting the Office of Advancement's efforts to secure funding for a ministry-related positions and programs at the SCS.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief of Staff at the SCS regarding budgetary responsibilities, fiscal planning and reconciliation
  • Supervises spending for retreats and Ignatian programs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree
  • At least 2 years of experience in Mission Integration work, and/or Ignatian pedagogy and formation work in a University setting
  • Requisite background, knowledge, and basic fluency in Ignatian spirituality
  • Knowledgeable in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius
  • Ability to engage and support persons of all religious and spiritual identities and work collaboratively with colleagues of other religious traditions 
  • A background in higher education
  • Demonstrable success as a community builder and team player
  • Ability to uphold professional standards at all times
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite programs and familiarity with social media and other on-line resources as required
  • Willingness and availability for some evening/weekend work
