Human Resources Manager
Job Description High energy, self-motivated experienced Human Resources Manager needed for growing, small business in Silver Spring, Maryland. Ideal candidate is a self-starter who thinks on his/her feet and thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. In this key leadership role, you will manage a variety of HR and recruiting projects and responsibilities. Office team is supportive, cohesive, goal oriented, and fun! Primary Responsibilities: Hires, trains, and manages two full-time administrative staff, including writing annual performance reviews. Suggests and implements changes that will drive achievement of recruitment, retention, and engagement goals of field staff. Manages the recruitment and hiring process for field and administrative staff (drafts job advertisements, places ads, reviews applications/resumes, conducts pre-screen telephone interviews and initial phone interviews, conduct background and reference checks). Manages employee onboarding process from offer through new employee orientation. Coordinate all needs for new employee (computer, email, phone, etc.) Facilitates and provides training for field staff. Maintains all employee and applicant documentation, including personnel files. Responsible for employee relations including coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. Administer, maintain, and ensure compliance documentation up to date for field and administrative staff. Re-organizes operations and/or responsibilities of office team when staff are out of the office (ill, vacation, etc.). Secondary Responsibilities: Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local laws, including keeping Employee Handbook up to date. Reports, maintains, and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows up on open cases. Maintains and processes all unemployment notices and charges in a timely manner. Attends unemployment hearings, when necessary. Initiates and follow through with ADA/FMLA requirements. Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans. Reviews benefits with employees and processes enrollment, cancellation, or changes. Manages open enrollment communications and election process. Maintains and distributes list of new and cancelled employees under each benefit plan. Verifies benefit billing accuracy and processes for payment. Oversees review of timesheets and back-up to payroll processing. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business management, psychology, or equivalent and 5+ years' experience of human resources experience. Self-motivated, demonstrated leadership and management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and goals and meet deadlines. Demonstrated experience in the successful administration of HR policies and procedures. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written skills. Impeccable organization and strong attention to detail skills. Exemplary customer service skills. Proficient in using and learning a wide variety of software programs. Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently.
