Advisor, Early Numeracy and Math
Summary Save the Children seeks an advisor to launch and grow an early numeracy and math program for young children, from early childhood through third grade. In the U. S., Save the Children works in partnership with public schools to provide high-quality early learning programs in some of the most remote, rural communities in the country. The Advisor will work with school partners and leaders across Save the Children U. S. Programs and Advocacy division to increase focus on math in both early childhood and school-aged programs. We are looking for a candidate with expertise in early math; knowledge of early math research, curricula and assessment; and a passion for making a difference in the lives of children. What You ll Be Doing (Essential Duties) Review and select educational materials to support early numeracy and math programming. Develop and deliver trainings to increase knowledge and capacity of Save the Children colleagues and partner school staff. Work in close consultation with Director of Early Childhood Programs, Director of School-age Programs and Senior Education Specialists to integrate numeracy and math programming into existing programs. Work closely with partner schools to ensure alignment and coordination with in-school math curriculum and instruction. Represent Save the Children in key venues and conferences where numeracy is discussed. Select assessment tools and study the implementation of the numeracy program using real time data to improve program quality. Work with Director of Evaluation to develop and execute a strong evaluation plan to inform program design, generate evidence and communicate impact of the numeracy program. Ensure that numeracy materials are culturally appropriate, contextually relevant, and designed to complement and reinforce classroom learning. Support Resource Development staff with fundraising efforts and proposal writing Required Qualifications You have a minimum 7-10 years' experience in area of expertise Bachelor s degree Strong Level of Technical and/ or Managerial knowledge, skills, and experience to direct the operational activities of a Unit or Team, or provide technical advice, guidance and management related to various size programs, grants or projects. Experience developing and accessing numeracy curricula. Experience delivering trainings to teachers and/or para-professional educators. Excellent interpersonal skills, a proven ability to engage stakeholders. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%, as required.
