The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing Accounting and Payroll functions to ensure the accurate and timely production of month end financial information and supporting schedules and ensures the integrity of the financials with appropriate research and analysis. Manage the Accounting team to ensure the efficient and accurate performance of duties and functions. Manage the completion of the general ledger account reconciliations and financial statements to ensure accurate and timely monthly financial reporting that is compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Follow our client's accounting processes and procedures and maintain strict confidentiality of the company's customer and business transactions. Oversee all activities in the accounting and accounts payable functions. Determine when vendors will be paid. Manage payroll activities with staff and third-party payroll service. Hire, train, motivate, evaluate, and manage staff in order to ensure that employees receive adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established group objectives. Develop, implement, and monitor group standards, guidelines and objectives, and maintains other administrative processes such as planning and staffing to ensure efficient operation of group. Work closely and in collaboration with the Planning & Analysis group to budget and forecast expenses and ensure meaningful financial information is provided to the organization. Manage fixed and intangible asset reporting and depreciation schedules. Manage the sales tax return process, including relationship with third party administrator, to ensure timely and accurate filings of sales tax returns in the US and Canada. Manage company business insurance program including annually renewal process. Assist with financial and tax audits and correspondence. Design, review and improve accounting group systems, processes and company internal controls. Recommend and undertake ad hoc projects to research and implement improvements or additions to company's policy, processes and procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting. Calculate and administer royalty payments. Document policies, procedures, and workflow, as needed. Articulate overall concept to staff and provide direction for projects. Maintain knowledge about projects on which staff are working, coordinate and build synergies and collaboration across groups where appropriate. Facilitate integration and sharing of staff knowledge and efforts with other groups. Required Education/Skills A. or B. S. in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience. 6+ years related experience in accounting. CPA certification. Experience managing month-end closings required. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once while completing quality work on a timely basis and within frequent, tight, deadlines. Supervisory experience. Comfort working with sensitive & confidential information; excellent ethics and judgment. Ability to work independently and with a team. Ability to coach employees to enhance their skills and performance and help them develop their careers. Exceptional interpersonal skills in dealing with vendors, customers, and staff. Ability to excel in a rapidly changing environment. Expertise with MS Office (Excel intensive). Experience with NetSuite and QuickBooks preferred. Ability to sit for long periods of time; ability to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer.
