Learning and Development Manager
Responsible for designing and implementing the Kennedy Center's learning and professional development programs, materials, and delivery mechanisms to include: policies and procedures, compliance, leadership effectiveness, harassment, diversity and inclusion, and knowledge sharing. Additional micro learning sessions addressing customized need areas for the Kennedy Center may be developed in the areas of talent management, compensation, etc. This important new role will manage an on-line and 3rd party delivered learning format, deliver web-based seminars, author printed and digital manuals, and other key employee learning initiatives and programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
60-70% The Learning and Development Manager assesses organization-wide developmental needs, drives overall learning initiatives, and identifies and arranges suitable learning solutions for all employees. This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate, enhance and recognize performance. This position also collaborates with the Federal HR Specialist to synchronize learning delivery and experience for the federal workforce.
Designs, develops, and administers learning programs for employees, helps individuals and groups develop skills and knowledge, creates learning manuals, and presents in-person, eLearning, and other learning experiences. Obtains and/or delivers effective learning materials utilizing a variety of media/medium.
Conducts annual learning and development needs assessments, deploys a wide variety of learning methods, and maintains the annual learning and professional calendar, curriculum, plans, and course descriptions.
Develops and maintains organizational communications such as digital bulletin boards, calendars, and newsletters to ensure employees have knowledge and are adequately informed of upcoming learning and development events, and resources.
Identifies and assesses future and current learning needs through job analysis, career paths, annual performance appraisals, consultation with managers, and designs overall or individualized staff learning and development plans as necessary.
Monitors and evaluates learning program effectiveness, success and ROI and provides periodic evaluative reporting. Manages and monitors spending against institution-wide HR L&D budget.
Maintain a keen understanding of learning trends, developments and best practices. Conducts follow-up studies of all completed learning to evaluate and measure results, and to modify programs as needed. Formulates teaching outlines and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.
Plans, organizes, and facilitates classroom setup for all learning events. Researches learning materials and supplies to enhance participant learning experience. Selects or develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia/infographic visual aids, and online tutorials.
20-30% Develops strong working relationships with internal customers to develop targeted course materials and receive feedback. Confers with management, supervisors and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training, to better understand changes in policies and procedures, applicable regulations, organizational initiatives, and current technologies.
Provides performance management training and/or coaching as needed. Trains and coaches managers, supervisors, and others involved in employee development efforts.Participates in employee performance management improvement coaching sessions and makes related training/development recommendations. Assists employees with problem-solving concerning "how to" perform specific tasks related to their positions.Makes suggestions on improving work performance and procedures.
- BA/BS with an emphasis in Instructional Design and Delivery, eLearning, and Human Resources Management
- 5+ years of experience in Instructional Design and Delivery
- Instructional Design certification preferred
