Kennedy Center Education Department seeks versatile, energetic, non-union theater technicians, including lighting, technical, and sound directors, and props/wardrobe supervisors, for its Equity TYA touring production set for January 2019 - May 2019. Technicians receive weekly salary, housing, and per diem. Positions open until filled with interviews beginning June, 2018.

Duties and Responsibilities:

60% Loading and unloading of the truck, assisting in the set up/strike of the set, and directing road cases to stage/truck in proper order. Setting up/strike of the prop tables and costume racks, and timely maintenance of the properties and costumes. Supervising and training local wardrobe personnel during the load-in, performance and load-out. Acting as a backstage Dresser during each performance. Unpacking and setting up all props and costumes during load-in. Manning the backstage area during the run of the show, facilitating any prop hand-offs and helping the Sound/Video Supervisor in the case of a sound/video-related problem. Laundering or overseeing the proper laundering of costumes.

25% Participate in the shared task of traveling the set and company to and from venues, along with other company technicians

15% Communicating with the productions creative team in order to successfully achieve the desired production goals consistently in performance.

Education/Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of technical theater experience in lighting, sound, general stagecraft, and safe working procedures. Prior touring experience preferred.

Minimum Skills and/or Knowledge Required

Valid driver's license, excellent driving record and ability to drive a 26' truck essential. Applicant must possess excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
