    GS-13: You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $94,796) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

    Examples of specialized experience related to this position include developing and implementing automated information security policy; developing, maintaining and coordinating and enforcement of systems Standard Operating Procedures, (SOPs) developed for the application and maintenance of all systems; and maintaining an inventory of hardware and software associated with unclassified and classified networks.

    In addition to the qualification requirements above, applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four BASIC COMPETENCIES listed below.

    1. ATTENTION TO DETAIL - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

    2. CUSTOMER SERVICE - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

    3. ORAL COMMUNICATION - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

    4. PROBLEM SOLVING - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

    National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    This position does not have a positive education requirement. If you are including education on your resume, report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

    1. Knowledge of IT and IA Security Principles and Management in order to apply experimental theories and new developments or procedures to security problems.

    2. Ability to achieve, manage, and maintain certain professional certifications to adequately perform job.

    3. Ability to develop unit policy and implement instructions; provide authorities interpretations and guidance to management officials and other security specialist; knowledge of national intelligence information security policy and control manuals.

    4. Ability to recommend and make decisions relating to security policies and procedures.

    5. Skill in verbal and written communication in order to produce finished products, prepare and present briefings.
