    Applicants must meet one of the following to qualify for the GS-7 level:

    One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-6 level work: 1) Uses a wide variety of mechanisms to contribute to and manage communications among and between program areas, diverse audiences including the public, and scientific and/or academic organizations. Regarded as an expert source of information on program goals and aspirations; completed work is reviewed for conformance with program goals and aspirations; numerous and varied guidelines are adapted and applied; 2) Performs a segment of the evaluative work of an administrative function; identifies issues or problems and seeks alternative solutions consistent with program goals and aspirations of scientific and/or academic organizations. Works independently in completing assignments; completed work is reviewed for effectiveness in communicating program goals.

    **OR applicants may substitute successful completion of 1 year of appropriate graduate level education (18 semester hours, 27 quarter hours, or the equivalent) in a field of study directly related to the work of this position for the required one year of specialized experience. Graduate education may be credited only when it is clearly directly related to the work of this position and equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.

    **OR a combination of appropriate specialized experience (as described above) and graduate education (as described above) that is beyond the first 1/2 year of progressive graduate study to meet the qualification requirements. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
    • Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the above requirements.
