Executive Director, Center on Privacy & Technology - Georgetown University Law Center
Georgetown Law's Center on Privacy & Technology is a think tank focused on privacy and surveillance law and policy—and the communities they affect. It is high visibility research program within Georgetown Law, has a highly respected reputation nationally, and operates primarily as an independent organization outside the direction of the school.
The Executive Director manages the Center's research, administration, operations, communications, and day-to-day activities, and represents the Center to funding agencies, legislators, and partner organizations. Reporting to the Center's founding director, and coordinating and consulting as necessary with Law Center faculty, the Executive Director has duties that include but are not limited to:
Planning Development and Leadership
- Consults with the founding director and collaborates with faculty members to develop research programs, teaching programs, and agenda.
- Oversees implementation of research programs and agenda.
- Teaches a practicum associated with the Center.
- Plans and implements the publication of multiple law and policy research papers each year.
- Formulates program strategies and goals.
- In consultation with the founding director, directs Iong-term planning.
Management and Operations
- Oversees day-to-day activities of the Center.
- Develops policies and procedures.
- Advises faculty about funding, staffing, and space needs.
- Manages 5 to 7 Center staff and supervises staff members' management of research assistants.
External Relations
- Represents the organization to funding agencies.
- Coordinates with founding director to identify and pursue new sources of funding.
- Develops financial resources and programs.
- Writes grant proposals and reports.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree - LLM preferred
- 8 years of experience working at the intersection of law and technology
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative programs or research agenda
- Significant experience in academic administration and fundraising
