    If you are selected, you must complete (or have already completed) a 1-year supervisory or managerial probationary period.

    Upon acceptance of an initial appointment to a supervisory or managerial position with the EPA, you agree to complete all elements of the EPA Successful Leaders Program.  This development program is designed to enhance leadership skills and abilities and meet the Agency's goal of providing new leaders with the skills and tools you need to be successful.  

    If you are selected, you must complete a one year probationary period.

    You do not need a degree to qualify for this position.

    You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed here: 1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; 2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; 3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; and 4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

    We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:

    To qualify for the GS-15 level, you need to have at least one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-14 level defined as providing leadership, oversight or technical expertise for an Information Technology project or program in eDiscovery services such as Freedom of Information Act Requests, congressional inquiries and/or litigation; coaching, mentoring or leading others.

    Your answers to the on-line assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:  1) Knowledge of eDiscovery services; 2) Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of Information Technology infrastructure and/or architecture; 3) Skill in capital planning and investment control; 4) Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team; 5) Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of subordinate organizational units; 6) Ability to mentor, motivate, and appraise staff; 7) Skill in oral communication; and 8) Skill in written communication.

    In addition to the experience and/or education described in this announcement, you must also have the following to be qualified for this position:

    - eDiscovery experience managing requests for eDiscovery services in order to deliver electronically stored information (ESI) needed to respond to Freedom of Information Act requests, congressional inquiries, or litigation.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
