Seeking a passionate GIS team player to join the agency's GIS & Mapping Services Branch, this position is responsible for a variety of duties providing spatial information and services to county staff and residents. Responds to walk-ins, and digital inquiries and requests regarding GIS products and services. Uses GIS to research and answer questions. Makes custom maps and reports and maintaining selected GIS data. Provides assistance, demonstrations and training on basic level GIS skills, software and equipment. Works with spatial analysts on large GIS projects and carries out basic spatial analysis. Assists other GIS teams in testing and evaluating software applications. Maintains inventory of GIS consumables. Supports additional office functions and operations as required.Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to bachelor's degree in computer science, geography or related field; plus course work in ArcView GIS or similar GIS software.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.
Undergraduate degree with major emphasis of study in one of the following disciplines: GIS, geography, cartography, civil engineering, urban planning, or computer science. In depth knowledge of ArcGIS 10.x. Delivering GIS technical support; working with the public in a customer service environment; teaching GIS concepts and tools in a classroom environment. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with municipal GIS and some familiarity with local government lines of business related to land development.
Duties are generally sedentary, performed in a normal office environment. Must be able to lift 60 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
