Conducts inspections, trouble shooting, routine maintenance and repair, and prepares proper fuel mixtures for a wide variety of small engine equipment such as snow blowers, lawn mowers, power tampers, chain saws, brush cutters, concrete mixers, pumps, and augers. Thorough preventative maintenance and as needed repairs on salt spreaders and snow related equipment. Maintains records of all equipment repaired, parts inventory, maintenance schedules, and fuel mixture ratios. Orders parts as needed. May supervise and instruct trade helpers. Drives truck to and from job sites for emergency repairs and snow removal when necessary. This position will support Maintenance Operations (MOPS) field staff with field assignments on an as needed basis.
Note: Emergency overtime and unscheduled overtime is a requirement for this position. The appointee to this position will be required to be available twenty-four hours a day/seven days a week (24/7) to respond to snow, flooding, and other designated emergencies on an as needed .
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to completion of the tenth grade, and completion of an acceptable apprentice program in maintenance and repair work, and one year of successful journey-level experience in related maintenance and repair work.
Knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Commercial Driver's License Class B with Tanker Endorsement.
The following duties are performed with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to push, pull, lifting, bend, stoop, walk, and climb in and out of catch basins and manholes. (Including removal and replacement of manhole covers which weigh up to 90 lbs.) Physically and mentally able to use all applicable personal protective equipment in an outdoor environment; including hardhat, eye protection, hearing protection, safety footwear, long pants, sleeved shirt, and personal fall arrest harness, emergency retrieval systems, and atmospheric monitoring equipment. Must be physically and mentally capable of performing confined space entry operations with entry via 21" manholes with vertical descent using integral or portable ladders. Entry includes use of all applicable protective equipment and documentation.
