Behavioral Health Specialist II

This posting will be used to hire multiple qualified applicants. Supports Diversion First efforts through partnerships with the Farifax County Sheriff's Office, Court Services, Fairfax County Courts and community providers. Provides case management, crisis intervention, and support services. Serves adults with serious mental illness (SMI) and co-occurring disorders (including substance use and intellectual disabilities); Provides clinical assessments, treatment planning and linking to community resources. Work schedule is variable between 6:00 a.m and 7:00 p.m. Position requires some evening and holiday availability. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills possess a commitment to high quality customer service and be comfortable in a jail setting.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, nursing, counseling or a related field, plus one year of clinical experience.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Certain positions in this class may require: master's degree in psychology, social work, nursing, counseling or a related field; valid motor vehicle driver's license with fewer than six demerit points (or the equivalent in another state) at time of appointment and maintained throughout employment with CSB.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry, a driving record check and a check with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) to the satisfaction of the employer.
Master's degree in social work, counseling, human services, community counseling, or a related degree. Computer literacy required. Knowledge of stages of change, stages of treatment, moral reconation therapy and motivational interviewing are a plus.
The Adult Detention Center (ADC) is not barrier free. Must be able to walk significant distances within multiple buildings, climb stairs and respond to physical requirements necessary to comply with security and safety regulations. Ability to attend offsite meetings and trainings. Communicate effectively orally and in writing and observe, process, and document clinical information. Must be able to access, input, and retrieve computer data. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
