Job Title: HUMAN SERVICES SPECIALIST (PRN) Closing Date/Time: Thu. 07/19/18 11:59 PM Eastern Time Salary: $25.16 - $38.46 Hourly
Job Type: Part Time/On Call Location: 2100 Washington Blvd., Arlington, (Sequoia Plaza) *ART Bus Accessible*, Virginia       The Department of Human Services (DHS) has one PRN (as needed) vacancy to join the Program of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT). PACT operates 7 days per week, 24 hours daily. This employee will be scheduled on an "as needed basis" to support staff vacancies. PACT provides comprehensive and intensive mental health services for seriously mentally ill adults through a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including case managers, nurses and psychiatrists.  The employee will provide treatment, rehabilitation, and skill building out in a community setting, with some intervention directed or performed by staff with specialty training and skills.

PACT services promote independent living in the community for persons with the most severe and persistent mental illness. These services focus on increasing client tenure in the community, stabilizing psychiatric symptoms and improving the quality of life for identified high need, high-risk consumers in the community.

The Human Services PRN will provide intensive case management performing duties including:
  • Completing thorough clinical assessments;
  • Coordinating and collaborating with other providers and team members;
  • Providing and arranging crisis intervention for clients;
  • Conducting required face-to-face contact with clients;
  • Implementing the overall treatment plans for a client caseload; and/or
  • Providing skill building services to clients to address their activities of daily living in the community setting.

 Selection Criteria: Minimum:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Special Education, Mental Health, or Counseling;
  • One year of experience working with seriously mentally ill adults and/or dually diagnosed adults in a clinical setting (community-based, hospital, or shelter); and
  • Meet the criteria of a Qualified Mental Health Professional- Adult (QMHP-A) or a Licensed Mental Health Provider (LMHP) per the Virginia Board of Counseling regulations within 60 days of hire. https://www.dhp.virginia.gov/counseling/docs/QMHP_FAQs.pdf
Substitution: Additional experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Desirable: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
  • Providing case management services in a clinical setting (community-based, hospital, or shelter) and/or
  • Working on a PACT program.

 Special Requirements: Applicant must possess, or obtain by time of appointment, a valid motor vehicle operator's license from the applicant's place of residence. The applicant must authorize Arlington County to obtain, or the applicant must provide a copy of the applicant's official state/district driving record. Any offer of employment may be contingent upon a favorable review of the applicant's driving record. An agency vehicle is available for work-related travel; however, there may be times when the incumbent must use his/her personal vehicle for travel to various locations in Arlington. Parking and mileage reimbursement are provided.

A pre-hire background check will be made on all candidates who are selected for employment. It may include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. Applicants may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.

A State of Virginia Central Registry check will be required upon hire.

 
 Additional Information: This position covers staff vacancies or extended staff absences and will be scheduled on an as needed basis. Hours and number of days per week will vary. Some weekend and night work can be expected.
