Help Desk Engineer

Government Scientific Source Inc, GSS, a veteran-owned small business supplier of laboratory products and equipment to the federal government is seeking a Help Desk Engineer. The individual will be part of a group supporting and providing maintenance to GSS’s computing environment; which will include installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, upgrading, and documenting all PC related issues to ensure optimal equipment performance. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to work independently, prioritize, and execute tasks in a fast pace environment. This is a non-supervisory position within the IT Department of GSS.

Job Duties (include but not limited to):

Monitor ticketing system and investigate root causes of issues.

Provide support for local and remote users by phone, remote software, etc.

Installation, updates and troubleshooting a variety of software.

Troubleshoot Network printers, computers, faxes, scanners, etc.

Assists in the administration of e-mail systems and any other proprietary systems.

Prepare new hires’ computer, VOIP phones, and user accounts.

Assist in maintenance and inventory of all equipment.

Assist with other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

2-3 years of help desk support experience.

Excellent customer service skills.

Strong communication skills.

Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues.

Must complete task thoroughly when assigned.

Some weekend/night work is required.
