Seeking a full-time research fellow to work in AEI’s foreign policy department, contributing to the Institute’s study of Latin American politics, economic development, and transnational crime.

Research will focus on the impact of transnational organized crime, populism, and narco corruption on economic growth and prosperity. Responsibilities include primary Spanish language research and analysis of political, economic, and security conditions in the Americas. Research will also include ways in which inter-American partnerships can be used to promote democracy and the rule of law, antidrug cooperation, and regional trade.

The ideal candidate would have experience in political science with demonstrated expertise in Latin America, notably Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, Cuba, and Central America. Previous experience in government or think tank is preferred, and fluency in Spanish is essential. Qualified candidates should submit a resume, cover letter, and 500-word writing sample with their application at www.aei.org/jobs.

About AEI

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) is a public policy think tank dedicated to defending human dignity, expanding human potential, and building a freer and safer world.  The work of its scholars and staff advances ideas rooted in a belief in democracy, free enterprise, American strength and global leadership, solidarity with those at the periphery of our society, and a pluralistic, entrepreneurial culture.

AEI is committed to making the intellectual, moral, and practical case for expanding freedom, increasing individual opportunity, and strengthening the free enterprise system in America and around the world.  Its work explores ideas that further these goals, and AEI scholars take part in this pursuit with academic freedom.  AEI operates independently of any political party and has no institutional positions.  Its scholars’ conclusions are fueled by rigorous, data-driven research and broad-ranging evidence.
