SUMMARY: The Purchasing and Production Specialist is responsible for oversight and support of NRA ILA direct mail, phone banks, and purchasing of printing and other goods and services as needed. Works with suppliers and internal team members to ensure projects are planned and executed to ensure quality and competitive pricing while maximizing ROI.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
a. Maintain the production schedule of multiple, overlapping direct mail campaigns.
b. Develop, lead and execute purchasing and production strategies in support of ILA-identified needs
c. Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking, to predict/assess effectiveness of various marketing options. Propose alternative approaches based on analytics
d. Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness of direct mail campaigns
e. Utilize extensive multi-tiered database to assess, analyze, and micro-target key variables in response to emerging needs
f. Quality control and proofing of ILA printed materials
g. Inventory management as well as usage reporting and projections to determine ordering needs and timing. Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
h. Monitor and control pricing for all components of the production process; craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
i. Determine quality and timing of deliveries; partner with vendors to ensure clear requirements and documentation
j. Invoice approval and cost reporting; monitor budget impact of expenses
k. Research, investigate, and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers, performing due diligence as needed
l. Assess, manage and mitigate risks to the association

SCOPE: Extensive coordination within ILA and external vendors in the purchasing and production areas. Contact also occurs with other NRA divisions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Bachelor�s degree. Five plus years� direct mail experience (lettershop, postal, mail logistics, etc.). Should have experience managing extremely complex, large volume direct mail campaigns. Strong knowledge of accounting. Proven project management skills. Exceptionally well-organized, detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills. Experience working with suppliers to successfully negotiate job cost and schedules. Highly proficient with MS Office software, especially Excel. Experience excelling within fast paced environments. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Should have extensive experience in purchasing, vendor selection, inventory management, and data analytics.

Extended hours, often with short notice, may be required to fulfill responsibilities and respond to emergent needs. Must have track record of successfully managing and fulfilling multiple concurrent tasks to deadline. Excellent team player comfortable of working independently to achieve goals. Ability to remain calm and goal-directed in high-pressure situations, often with tight deadlines.
