The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Coordinator to join the team in the
Center for Global Business. One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, Economist and the Wall Street Journal.
The Coordinator will support the strategic operations of the Center for Global Business (CGB) at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. The Center is the hub of global learning at the School, including study abroad, on-campus global learning, and hosted programs for international students. It is also the home to global business research initiatives, curriculum development, and a Title VI CIBE (Center for International Business Education) grant sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. The Coordinator will serve as office coordinator for the CGB. S/he will perform critical marketing and communications, outreach, programmatic, and administrative functions to support all Title VI CIBE programs and study abroad, on campus global learning, and thought leadership/research initiatives and programs. S/he will assist with event planning, study abroad programming, data collection and processing, relationship management, grant reporting, story writing/social media, and general office support including budget coordination and administrative support to the Executive Director. The Coordinator will also coordinate discrete projects related to new or existing global initiatives. Events and programs s/he will be involved with include the annual program for International Education Week, the Distinguished Speakers in International Business Series, International Business Treks, hosted programs for international students, and some study abroad programs for undergraduates. The incumbent will represent the Center for Global Business through e-mails, telephone calls, and meetings with external (including vendors and service providers) and internal (including students, faculty, alumni, and staff of the Smith School and UMD) constituencies as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in international business, international relations, international education, or related field required with 2-3 years of professional experience in administration, student services, international programs, or other relevant field required. Professional experience includes communications/writing and marketing for student audiences, international program planning and administration, and project management. Excellent verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, particularly in an intercultural setting. Excellent written communication skills, specifically for student audiences. Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strict attention to detail. Friendly, flexible, service-oriented manner.
Must possess excellent project management skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint and Excel; proficiency in relationship management software (Salesforce) desired. Proven ability to meet deadlines. Proven ability to plan ahead, make effective use of time, and coordinate multiple projects at once. Proven ability to coordinate across offices and to work with others across units.
Understanding of general accounting principles a plus. Willingness to work extended and flexible hours in support of school priorities. High level of enthusiasm for and commitment to the University of Maryland, the Smith School, and the Center for Global Business.
The salary for this position will be in the high $40’s to low $50’s. The University also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 22 Days Annual Leave; 15 Days Sick Leave; 3 Days Personal Leave; 15 Paid Holidays; Tuition Remission; Health, Dental, Vision and Prescription coverage.
