Job Description: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is the region's first Magnet Hospital. It is a 525-bed medical center, and home to the area's only Level I Trauma Center, Burn Trauma Unit and Nationally Ranked Heart Program. In addition to a first rate heart program, the hospital is home to Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance and several dedicated facilities and specialized services.

The Power Plant Mechanic is experienced in all phases of steam generation, maintenance of boilers, chillers, and auxiliary equipment. Responsibilities include monitoring power plant equipment; reading and interpreting control circuits, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and specifications to determine proper operation. This individual tests, maintains, and repairs power plant equipment; monitors contractor's work to ensure quality and code compliance.

Education Level
High School Grad or Equivalent OR
Trade School Graduate

Required: Related - 1 year

Required: Drivers License, Refrig Trans and Recov Typ-III, Refrig Trans and Recov Uni Tec

Refrig Recovery Cert Type III, or Universal certification. Driver's License. Backflow Prevention Device tester's license required in most facilities. For positions at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, Power Plant Operating Engineer 3rd Class or Third Class Stationary Engineer by the District of Columbia preferred.
