Position Description:
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Telemetry Monitor Technician performs his or her duties directly on a nursing unit for the continuous monitoring, interpretation, communication, and documentation of cardiac rhythms and rhythm components. Additionally, this position is responsible for all telemetry-related equipment, supplies, and identifying 48 hours no ectopy patients that can be discontinued from telemetry monitor.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Read, Write, and understand English
  • Prior successful completion of a dysrhythmia recognition course
  1. Cardiac anatomy and physiology
  2. Correct monitoring lead placement
  3. Waves, intervals, and measurements, including QT intervals and ST segments
  4. Interpretation of sinus rhythms, atrial rhythms, junctional rhythms, atrioventricular blocks, bundle branch blocks, and ventricular rhythms
  5. Paced rhythms and pacemaker malfunctions
  • Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
