Job Title: CHILD PSYCHIATRIST Salary: Negotiable Job Type: Contract Location: 2100 Washington Blvd., Arlington, (Sequoia Plaza) *ART Bus Accessible*, Virginia       NOTE: This is a contract position.  
This community-oriented child psychiatrist will join full-time colleagues and work as part of a multidisciplinary outpatient child/adult mental health team and substance abuse teams providing assessment and treatment primarily to children, adolescents and their families. BHD provides a range of services that promote recovery, independence, and community integration for adults and children with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders. These services include emergency mental health, discharge planning, medical services, case management, and linkage to other services which are provided directly by County staff or through contract, at the Sequoia Plaza offices, at community-based locations, in the County jail, in homeless shelters, and on the streets.  The Psychiatric Services Bureau of the Department of Human Services is an integrated division with behavioral health, substance abuse and child welfare bureaus working closely together. DHS provides a broad continuum of social services, behavioral healthcare, public health, and employment programs to approximately 60,000 customers per year in an integrated, collaborative approach. Psychiatric Services Bureau has a recovery and best practice oriented mission, working collaboratively with various departments and services to provide needed services and supports to adults, children and families that are served. The psychiatrist will have the opportunity to be a part of projects which are at the forefront of mental health service delivery, including health care integration and innovative access models. 
 This is a cost-reimbursement contract.  Position for 8 to 30 hours/week and requires some late afternoon hours to accommodate the needs of the population that are served.   For outpatient services, the County will pay a negotiable rate dependent on qualifications and experience for rendered and completed initial psychiatric evaluations and for rendered and completed follow-up psychiatric visits (including transfers). Additionally, contractor will be paid for time spent on weekly team consultation.

The psychiatrists will work closely with the treatment teams to develop and implement interdisciplinary, recovery focused treatment. This position entails the following work expectations:•Diagnostic psychiatric evaluations;
•Ongoing psychiatric management, including psychopharmacologic treatment, appropriate forms of psychotherapeutic support, and as needed crisis intervention in collaboration with the treatment team;
•Assuring comprehensive healthcare needs are identified and treated and the people served are educated about their illness and given health management information and techniques;
•Team consultation and clinical supervision, participation in interdisciplinary treatment planning meetings;
•Documentation of clinical care as per specified standards in the electronic clinical record; and,
•Collaboration with other treatment providers.
 Selection Criteria: Minimum:  Minimum: Board Eligible M.D. from an accredited Medical school and graduation from an Accredited Residency Program in Psychiatry.

a) Board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology;
b) Board eligible/Certified in Child and Adolescent psychiatry;
c) Experience in an outpatient community setting working intensively with youth and families     with serious mental illness and substance abuse;
d) Multidisciplinary team experience
e) Experience treating traumatized youth; and,
f) Bilingual: English/Spanish
 Special Requirements: Must be licensed (or licensable) to practice medicine in the State of Virginia.

Must pass a criminal background check and State of Virginia Central Registry check.
