The Division of University Relations is hiring a Development Coordinator for the School of Public Health (SPH).

The Development Coordinator is responsible for the programmatic coordination of fundraising activities such as identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and renewal and for directing the administrative support functions for the Assistant Dean of Development and, at times, the Dean while s/he is involved in fundraising activities. S/he will be involved in building relationships from various populations including alumni, business and community leaders, staff, students and other volunteers.

This position oversees the daily development activity of the Assistant Dean, including managing the development activities, securing and scheduling internal and external appointments with donors/prospects/potential volunteers. The Coordinator prepares briefings for the Assistant Dean and Dean and finalizes itineraries for their travel, as necessary. S/he is also responsible for maintaining a special events calendar for the office and coordinating the involvement of the School’s faculty and staff in cultivation activities, such as lab tours and presentations.

The Development Coordinator oversees the unit’s budget for activities and tracks and manages the expenses and payments to internal and external contacts with the Assistant Dean. S/he also works directly with vendors, campus contacts, divisional colleagues, and other university administrators for the School’s alumni/donor events and activities. The Coordinator takes a leadership role in ensuring “best in class” donor relations, stewardship and alumni relations practices for the School of Public Health.

The Development Coordinator works with Advancement Services database system and other university databases, processes gifts, prepares gift agreements, and cultivation/stewardship material including donor acknowledgements. S/he is also responsible for assuring completion of contact reports and follow up for further donor cultivation. The Development Coordinator produces data and reports to monitor budgets and donations working with Foundation Management, to assist the Assistant Dean in tracking performance metrics and to detail the progress/impact of programs and initiatives. S/he understands and successfully follows all university policies.

The Development Coordinator works with the Prospect Research Team in rapidly identifying donors for the pipeline and assists in recruiting volunteers to support the annual development plan for the School. Through targeted outreach, s/he organizes events and appropriate fundraising and alumni relations activities to engage and support volunteers as it supports the annual plan. S/he may also be involved in coordinating student stories and assisting in producing other development material, in coordination with the SPH team.

Attendance at events during and after regular office hours and weekends may be necessary. Limited travel, primarily in the College Park area, is necessary.
