Financial Analyst, Executive Education - McDonough School of Business

Located at the intersection of business, government, and international relations, Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business (MSB) develops principled leaders committed to serving both business and society. Through our global perspective, we prepare students to compete in today's international business environment.

The Financial Analyst manages the operations and financial affairs for the MBA Admissions and MBA Program offices as well as for the Senior Associate Dean of the MBA Program.  Reporting to the Director of Operations and Student Services within the MBA Program Office, the Financial Analyst has duties that include but are not limited to:

Contract Processing

  • Coordinates and processes contracts, primarily for MBA Admissions, MBA Program office, and MBA students.
  • Prepares contracts and related documents for events and services taking place both on- and off- campus.
  • Coordinates with other university departments to ensure compliance with all Georgetown University policies and procedures.
  • Provides guidance to MSB/MBA staff to ensure compliance.

Budget Management

  • Monitors monthly expenditures and submits reports for quarterly budget reviews. 
  • Coordinates with MSB senior business officer to identify policies and coordinate appropriate actions.
  • Manages financial documentation.

ProCard Monitoring and Reconciliation

  • Provides oversight of MSB/MBA program staff use of ProCard.
  • Ensures employees comply with University policies for ProCard use, such as spending limits, appropriate spending use, appropriate/accurate descriptions, sales tax exemptions, receipt verification, and account coding.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliation packets for each employee, and then reviews and forwards to appropriate associate dean for audit.

              

Financial Management

  • Manages payroll for hourly staff, part-time employees, and student employees and ensures all time has been accurately submitted and approved on time.
  • Completes and submits requisitions, purchase orders, reimbursements (employees, students and outside suppliers), and contracts in GMS.
  • Processes all payments in GMS and ProCard to ensure prompt payment of all invoices.
  • Prepares journal vouchers to ensure all cost centers have been appropriately charged for expenses.
  • Processes and makes necessary deposits for MBA Program and MBA Admissions offices, and for MBA student clubs.
  • Tracks and monitors contributions from outside sources to MBA student clubs and events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and thorough knowledge of standard business practices
  • Excellent budget and fiscal management skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and draft and compose correspondence; excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to absorb and understand large amounts of complex information in a fast paced office
  • Initiative, sound judgment and willingness to contribute to a team effort
  • Detail orientation and the ability to handle confidential matters
  • Experience with MS Office programs---Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, PathwayNet, GMS [Georgetown Management System (Workday)], and Financial MyAccess
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask, set priorities, and meet deadlines
