The COGAR Group, Ltd. is currently hiring Special Police Officers (SPO) to work in Washington, D.C. Starting pay is from $ 24.63 hourly up to $ 25.40 hourly plus Health and Welfare $4.17 SPOs will provide access control for guests and tenants. Previous security experience required. Must meet the following qualifications: U.S. Citizen and 21 yrs. of age, High School Diploma or GED; Possess a current, valid armed DC SPO commission; Must have successfully completed a DHS/FPS Security Guard Information Manual (SMART BOOK) Basic Officer Training Course; Must successfully pass a physical and medical examination, drug screening to include a Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB). SPO / Dispatcher

One or more years of security experience related to central station operations and or dispatch centers is required as well as meeting all the above Special Police Officer requirements.
The officer must possess excellent interpersonal skills, multi-tasking skills, ability to remain calm under stressful situations, and also have the ability to interact effectively with various customers within a fast paced, service oriented environment. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. The Dispatchers shall have the ability to follow operating procedures and internal instructions checklists. The dispatcher must have a working knowledge of personal computer systems and current software and must have proficiency in Microsoft word.
Supervisor Special Police Officer
Provides training, schedule, and supervises the SPO’s Implements established security protocols, processes and procedures governing access control, vehicle and personal inspections, and related functions through the direct supervision of the Officers to which they are assigned Generates and completes security related control documents, forms, logs, and reports This position has the authority to deny access to a security controlled facility, and deny the removal of property Initiate the evacuation of a security controlled post/facility if in his or her judgment the action is warranted and appropriate Initiate disciplinary action in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement “CBA” Initiate contact with Federal Protective Services (FPS) for emergency and routine response Resolve security-related problems, questions, or other security related activities Conduct security patrols as directed. Conduct access control functions as directed Produce and maintain security related documents, reports, forms and logs as directed.
Meet the Special Police Officer requirements and a minimum of H.S. Diploma or equivalent GED. A minimum of two years’ experience as a supervisor in the security/law-enforcement/military field whose duties and responsibilities included security and safety training, initiating disciplinary actions and preparing written reports and documents No felony convictions and no convictions that reflect negatively on the individual’s reliability Must be a Unites States Citizen Must be able to withstand the physical demands of the position and be capable of responding quickly in an emergency situation Must be able to speak, read, write and effectively communicate in English under normal and stressful conditions Must pass all required training, certifications and licensing Must be able to obtain and maintain a government Secret Security Clearance Must be able to pass a drug screening.
