Term Assistant Professor

The Arts Management program of George Mason University, within the College of Visual and Performing Arts, seeks qualified candidates for a Term Assistant Professor beginning in August 2018. This position will serve an annual 9-month contract for a two-year period. International applicants are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities: * The successful candidate will teach a 4:4 course load that will include courses from across our curriculum: Arts Management Seminar, Arts in Society, Public Relations & Marketing, Fundraising & Development, Arts Policy, Arts Entrepreneurship, Visual Arts and Gallery Management, Performing Arts Management, Leadership and Governance, and Capstone. Candidates should identify courses they currently are prepared to teach; * Teaching responsibilities will include instruction of multilingual students and English as a second language learners. Candidates should be able to speak to their facility working in a highly multicultural environment; and * Administrative responsibilities will include advising students, serving on college and university committees, and actively engaging with local, regional, national, and international arts organizations. Required Qualifications: * A minimum of five years (within the last ten years) of professional experience in international arts management. International arts management experience might include arts management outside the United States, management of a national organization engaged in significant international work, or management of an arts-focused cultural exchange program or organization. A record of significant international artistic practice, coupled with arts management expertise, may also be considered; and * An advanced degree in the arts, arts management, or a field closely related to arts management; and * Some teaching experience. Preferred Qualifications: * Preference will be given to candidates who have recent affiliations with at least one major international or national arts or cultural organization; and * Experience in both performing and visual arts management
