Assistant Director of Admissions - Office of Undergraduate Admissions

The Assistant Director of Admissions shares in the responsibilities for the recruitment and selection of talented undergraduates interacts with prospective students, parents, high school guidance counselors, alumni and student volunteers, and faculty; performs daily management of a geographic region and assigned travel designed to attract qualifies students and full participation in the application review process. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director of Admissions has regional admissions duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluates and processes academic credentials and personal qualities of applicants on a regional level, under the supervision of the Senior Associate Director and on the individual schools level as a member of a committee comprised if Deans, faculty and students; and serves as a member of the Committee on Admissions that makes decision on Admissions applications.
  • Counsels students regarding Georgetown programs that best suits their needs through on-campus contact, either individually, in group information session, and /or by travel in assigned regions; and recruits prospective students and disseminates information about undergraduate academics, student life, financial aid, admissions requirements, and application procedures.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for high school guidance counselors and applicants from their geographic region; and plays a significant counseling role with prospective students and their parents, helping them to better understand the University's academic programs, student life, financial aid, and admission standards.
  • Serves as the staff contact for the Alumni Admissions Committees in their geographic regions - communicating information on admissions policies standards and processes, and ensuring  that committee members understand both admissions procedures and admissions results.
  • Performs collateral duties, assigned based on individual's strengths and interests, and as directed, participates in and/or takes the lead in assigned projects.


  • Bachelor's degree - Master's degree preferred
  • Preference for 4 to 6 years of admissions or related experience
  • Strong public speaking and writing skills
  • Sensitivity to the needs of differing groups of students
  • A commitment to a diverse student body
  • Availability and willingness to travel and to work some weekend and evening commitments
