Senior Budget Analyst, Financial Planning & Reporting - Georgetown University Law Center

The Senior Budget Analyst provides monthly monitoring of Law campus and department operating performance, produces regular reports on operating results and provides guidance to Law Center leadership on proper financial tracking. Reporting to the Director of Financial Planning/Budgeting & Reporting, who reports to the Law Center's CFO, the Senior Budget Analyst has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Assists the Director of Financial Planning & Reporting in the preparation, monitoring and reporting of the Law Center's annual operating, endowment, special funds and capital budgets.
  • Processes financial transactions through the University Financial Systems and is knowledgeable of all established financial policies and procedures for the Law Center and the University.
  • Prepares periodic accounting entries for Law Center transactions and obligations to the University and to also corrects misallocated expenses and revenues; in reviewing operating results, works with various departments at the Law Center to identify and explain variances.
  • Performs complex financial analyses as necessary on various components of the Law Center operating, endowment, special funds and capital budgets to support the Law Center's Budget Director, the Chief Financial Officer, and other members of the senior management team.
  • Interact with all levels of the Law Center Community (faculty, staff and students), as well as with financial and budget officers throughout the University.
  • Participates in meetings with senior members of the Law Center leadership team.
  • Supervises one Budget Analyst.

Requirements 

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
  • Preference for CPA certification, though demonstrated accounting background can substitute
  • 2 to 3 years of professional experience in performing complex financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting. 
  • Strong working knowledge and experience in MS Excel (pivot tables), Word and PowerPoint
