Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for coordinating and supervising construction work and project personnel. Responsible for providing timely response and coordination of activities. Schedule activities to assure work is accomplished on time. Maintain product quality and a safe, clean work environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS; EDUCATION/TRAINING: Must possess a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED). Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of directly-related supervisory experience in a construction or other technical environmental work. Formal training in related fields will substitute on a year-for year basis. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE : Experience dealing with the Union and working in the transportation industry a must. Safe work practices and policies. Safe driving rules and practices. General inventory and recordkeeping practices. SKILLS & ABILITIES : Ability to manage and supervise others. Ability to multi-task projects. Excellent problem solving skills. Ability to work with time constraints and complete projects on time. Read and understand blueprints. Ability to update inventories and other supplies as needed. Ability to understand and communicate complex written and oral instructions. Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Valid state driver's license. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check. Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screens. Must be able to work scheduled off-hours and emergency overtime as required. CERTIFICATIONS: None PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : BS degree in Construction Management or 5-10 years of relevant experience. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Must have the ability to adjust to changing assignments with ease. Organize and schedule the project work on various job sites with subcontractors; interact with the customers and site owners to maintain quality control and a safe environment. Read and understand blueprints. Maintain quality control. Ensure complete and accurate documentation, such as two week schedules, daily reports, request for information (RFI), and submittals. Assure the project is on schedule and all installation is correct per drawings and specifications. Ensure work site is clean, are safe and safety standards are followed. Develop best practices and standard tools to improve operational efficiency Provide guidance and support to field staff; daily problem-solving. Ensure a high level of accountability Monitor and manage field expenses within assigned budget Submit purchase orders related to field operation equipment and supplies Provide for personnel and resource adjustments as needed to meet daily project resource requirements. Ensure safety regulations are being observed and all methods are adequate, up to date, adhered to, and effective. Prepare/review daily, weekly and monthly reports. Supervise and monitor work performance of project staff including providing input on hiring/disciplinary actions and work objectives and effectiveness. Conduct daily project/safety meetings as required. Perform daily project site walk through to measure performance. Determine material, equipment, and supplies to be used. Transfer equipment and personnel from one project to another as necessary. Maintain time cards and other routine records. Monitor required project training records; schedule training as required. Monitor and interpret regulatory requirements. Provide response to customers on project issues. Interact with local, state and federal agencies as required Provide input to and review and approve invoices for assigned project(s). Assist with preparation of bid proposals for requested project work. Attend client site walk through to assist with estimating cost of project. MENTAL & COGNITIVE DEMANDS : Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret data; read and understand professional journals, legal documents, codes, construction and engineering plans and technical manuals; provide response in a timely and professional manner; able to write proposals and bids; able to communicate clearly and succinctly on a basic and technical level. Must be able to write procedures, technical reports, and correspondence. Must be able to perform advanced math calculations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform project site walk through in all weather conditions and with exposure to any potentially harmful environmental conditions. Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. Ability to verbally communicate with, hear and understand others. Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to walk, reach with hands and arms. Ability to perform repetitive movements of the fingers, hands, wrists and arms OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include): Other duties as assigned. JOB DIMENSIONS: Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Program Manager for assigned project(s). Supervision Exercised : Supervise and monitor work performance of project staff and personnel. Interface Required : Interfaces with client, teaming partners and/or subcontractors, co-workers, management, suppliers and vendors, local/state/federal regulatory personnel/agencies and the general public. WORK ENVIRONMENT : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to normal office conditions when not in the field. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When performing site walk through, employee may be exposed to environmental hazards, extreme weather conditions, and loud noise.
