In this role, you'll combine strong managerial and leadership skills with design experience to oversee the entire operations of the department and will work closely with designers and team members to ensure customer requests are being met, special events run smoothly and Wegmans Signature design elements are reflected throughout the department.People (Who We Are)Manage performance and develop employees; provide resources, training, feedback, and development opportunitiesInterview, select and hire the best caring, diverse, knowledgeable peopleLead by example and create a fair, empowering, and safe work environment; maintain & encourage two-way communicationPreserve our culture, lead with our values, and ensure Wegmans remains a great place to workCustomer (What We Believe)Assist customers and work hands-on with employees, ensure they have the resources and knowledge to provide incredible service and the highest quality products to our customers; provide guidance to floral design Team Leaders on wedding consultations and special events, ensure successful execution of customer requestsIdentify ways to build positive customer relationships and improve their shopping experienceProduct (What We Do)Use knowledge of product, benchmarking, design trends, materials, and costs to plan, implement and create innovative displays and access to fresh, unique floral arrangements; support Menu magazine, company priorities, programs, featured and seasonal items; understand perishability of the productCreate excitement and educate others about new programs and products to drive salesAnalyze financial reporting tools; use experience and knowledge when making decisions on pricing for the department, custom work and special event orders that increase profitability and control expensesResults (What We Measure)Oversee all Floral operations, including sales, contribution, diversity, development, and retention; share company vision and meet goals; delegate tasks and supervise team to maximize efficiency;Collaborate with internal partners and outside vendors; ensure company policies, procedures and Signature design elements are followed; work through product, or vendor related concernsWork environment:Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, frequent lifting, bending, and reaching, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers. Work involves exposure to cold temperatures. The average weight range of items lifted is 1-10 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds occasionally. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)Work may include use of hand pallet jack, power pallet jack, power walkie-reach, scissors lift or WAV unit. Wegmans certification required for use of power equipmentEmployment at Wegmans may be contingent upon your completion and our evaluation of a drug screen and/or criminal background check.
