Job Description District Contracting Group , a Washington DC based 8(a) Certified General Contractor is expanding its customer base and we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cost Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate must have a solid and successfully history in this position and has a passion for winning! Duties and Responsibilities: vetting RFP's to determine bid/no-bid decision create bid packages and scopes for distribution to subcontractor community fielding technical and other questions from subcontractor community during bid process organize subcontractor quotes and ensure quotes meet contract requirements negotiate subcontractor costs and validate capabilities provide accurate and clear quantity take-offs maintain unit pricing database for material and labor capable of preparing detailed budgets develop winning pricing proposals and ensuring proposal is complete and submitted timely participate in the negotiation process with customers and capable of explaining the details of cost proposals interact with field personnel and internal project teams regarding material and labor costs and maintaining those costs Qualifications and Experience: excellent communicator, logical and analytical in thought, results driven, established relationships with subcontractor community and capable of building and maintaining positive and effective relationships, promote and exemplify professional behavior, a self-starter, proficient with construction estimating software including, but not limited to RSMeans, and capable of spreadsheet design capable and enjoys working in fast paced environment with variable working hours proactive in their duties and assignments, have the ambition for higher position within the company A minimum experience factor of 3 years working as an Estimator at the General Contractor level. Successful history in the federal and/or municipal sectors is advantageous. Experience with diverse federal projects including IDIQ and JOC's a plus.
