Job Description Dental Assistant w/X-Ray Certification SPA Dental Group is seeking a professional and experienced Dental Assistant. Candidates must have schedule flexibility. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a large role in the provision of effective and trustworthy dental services. You will sustain patient comfort, listen to their needs and educate them on dentalprocedures. You must be able to show up on time to your scheduled shift. We are seeking an individual who is a quick learner and will be a reliable asset to our organization, with scope for personal growth. Dental Assistants Roles Chair Side: Use four handed dentistry to pass dental instruments and materials Assist chairside with retraction of soft tissue, effective use of high volume suction, effective use of saliva ejector, perform intraoral photography, apply topical anesthetic and fluoride treatments Ask about the patient's medical history, take blood pressure Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment Record pulse using pulse oximeter during nitrous oxide administration Cure materials with curing light Take Impressions for study models or diagnostic casts Construct athletic mouth guards on models Perform in office bleaching Be prepared to assist the dentist in a patient emergency by maintaining CPR certification, knowing where to locate the emergency kit and oxygen and be able to call paramedics immediately Infection Control and Sterilization: Follow all Infection Control protocols and procedures Breakdown and disinfect dental equipment and treatment room Sterilize dental instruments Clean dental chair, light and equipment Wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment Prepare treatment room, patient, instruments and materials Flush and clean high and low speed suction and tubing Disinfect water lines Clean and disinfect all areas outside of treatment rooms including sterilization, lab, x-ray, consultation and storage areas Properly dispose of sharps and biohazardous materials Inventory dental instruments and materials Administrative: Assist in obtaining patient consent Provide oral hygiene and post-operative instructions Manage lab cases Record treatment and notes in the patient record Protect patient privacy; follows all HIPAA policies and laws Assist with patient scheduling and referrals Fulfill the duties of a Patient Service Representative by answering incoming telephone calls, scheduling appointments, making confirmation calls and verifying dentalinsurance Other administrative duties as assigned Dental Radiation: Confirm pregnancy status of female patients Use appropriate personal protective equipment Use lead apron to protect patients Expose radiographs ordered by a dentist Utilize a lead apron and document if an additional staff member is needed to obtain an x-ray Disinfect x-ray equipment after each patient Clean chair, equipment, cabinets, countertops and lead aprons Required education: High school or equivalent Required experience: Dental Assisting: 1 years Expanded Functions Training Preferred Recommended licenses or certifications: Radiology Certification DC State Certification BLS for Healthcare Providers Experience with Dentrix Ascend
