Job Description KEY DUTIES Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards. Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization. Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed. Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects. ADDITIONAL SUPPORT REQUIRED Ability to learn and develop an understanding of the existing infrastructure in order to provide technical and documentation support Provide network addressing assignments Maintain routing protocols and routing table configurations Provide configuration of authentication and authorization (eg, Directory Services) Provide maintenance and documentation for network facilities (ie servers, file servers, printer servers, Intrusion Detection Service (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Service (IPS), etc.) Provide concentration on network design and security Provide troubleshooting and debugging of network related problems Provide maintenance of the network authorization infrastructure, as well as the network backup system Provide Network Directory Services: Domain Naming Services (DNS), Domain Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and World Wide Web (WWW) services Support secure wireless technology capability for multiple locations Provide network planning, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring Provide central authentication and authorization services for Windows based computers Provide Active Directory services to allow administrators to assign policies, deploy software, and apply critical updates to the LAN infrastructure Maintain and troubleshoot all approved Internet connections to the administrative networks within the customer's LAN Maintain traffic monitoring and capacity analysis and monitor and record data traffic statistics for the administrative LAN network. Perform network monitoring for the administrative LANs using networking monitoring tools provided by the customer. Analyze network statistics, including traffic flow for the Administrative networks, perform reviews and trend analysis, and submit enhancement recommendations to system management and CCBs. Coordinate with the customer's Network Operations Center (NOC) in Silver Spring, MD to document and provide all IP addresses for the system's administrative and operational networks. Document and manage any NAT and DHCP servers and their corresponding address space using the CCR process. Manage and troubleshoot all approved public Domain Naming Service (DNS) name spaces on both the administrative and operational networks. This includes obtaining domain names, managing and assigning the proper IP address to correspond to the correct domain names, and updating DNS names and entries. EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION 5+ Experience with Microsoft Active Directory 5+ Experience installing, configuring, monitoring and maintaining network integrity and CISCO devices (ie switches, routers and firewalls) 5+ Experience with Cisco VOIP and Wireless solutions 5+ Experience with network engineering principles to include (TCP/IP, OSI model). 5+ Experience installing and configuring Cisco IOS and devices to include switches (catalyst), routers (ASR) and Firewalls (ASA models) and standards and technology to include: VLANs, trunking, routing (static, OSPF, BGP), QoS, 802.11. CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification is required Strong experience with monitoring protocols and tools. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills in order to build/maintain constructive relationships among customers, government technical workers, and contractors, and stakeholders to meet tactical and strategic goals Ability to develop, document, and maintain processes, methods, and tools Ability to perform and understand multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to work in a team environment as well as be an individual contributor Able to meet requirements for maintaining professional certifications Excellent Customer Service skills ITIL v3 Foundation Certification, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months US Citizenship is Required POSITION OBJECTIVE We are seeking a Network Engineer to perform network administration for a LAN/WAN infrastructure team. The successful candidate will have experience maintaining network performance by troubleshooting network problems; deploying, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring active networks and network devices. Act as a lead network engineer in support of customer's network infrastructure. Network Infrastructure consist primarily of Cisco network infrastructure to include; Cisco switches, routers and firewalls. Other Cisco solutions include; Cisco VoIP and Wireless. Candidate must possess knowledge of network engineering principles (TCP/IP, OSI model).
