Job Description Cyber Security Engineer Falls Church Description: The Cybersecurity Engineer supports multiple initiatives involving Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity solutions, strategy and implementations. The candidate develops high quality assessments that demonstrate an understanding of and resolution to security related events and problem sets. The Cybersecurity Engineer develops and documents system and architectural vulnerabilities (including solutions and countermeasures) and integrates same with emerging strategies and industry best practices policies. The candidate analyzes and recommends resolutions to cybersecurity problems based on knowledge of large scale inter-networking, cybersecurity and commercial products and services: the candidate must have a technical understanding of their limitations, and a broad working knowledge of the disciplines of cybersecurity. He or she must be able to apply knowledge of current DoD cybersecurity initiatives, policy, tactics, techniques, doctrines, and relationships to cybersecurity command and control, situational awareness, and reporting requirements and structure in a fast-paced working environment. The candidate participates as an integral part of a security engineering team. Responsibilities: Supports programs in researching, evaluating, planning, designing, engineering and delivering quality computing, network and cybersecurity engineering solutions in support of Department of Defense (DoD) activities and missions. Reviews and ensures compliance with DoD policy and requirements. Researches, evaluates and assesses the effects of current and emerging computing, network and information systems solutions and industry standards. Leads teams of security engineers and analysts, and supports technical design and engineering of emerging technology through pilot recommendations as well as other research and development initiatives. Skills: Demonstrate extensive system engineering experience and systems security engineering including inter-networking, datacenter and end user environments Exhibit in-depth knowledge of DoD Information Enterprise Architecture, state-of-the art inter-networking and web security technology methods as well as the ability to formulate requirements and specifications for systems developers in a dynamic environment. Display strong understanding of content filtering, application firewalls, malware detection, and networking capabilities and the ability to articulate TCP/IP protocols operations to include, but not limited to, domain name system (DNS), timing protocols and secure communication protocols (eg SSH, SSL). Express excellent oral and written communication skills Education: Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree preferred in Cybersecurity, Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related Information Technology areas.
